WDA – Workforce Development Agency
A Statutory Board under the Ministry of Manpower (Singapore) established in 2003 to enhance the competitiveness of our workforce by encouraging workers to learn for life and advance with skills. In today's economy, most jobs require not just knowledge, but also skills.
ATO – Approved Training Organisation
A status given to an organisation who meets the quality and professional standards required under Workforce Development Agency standard.
WSQ – Workforce Skills Qualification
A robust and integrated continuing education and training system. Designed to build industry competencies, it is founded on best international practices and validated by industries and employers. It differs from the pre-employment training system delivered by national schools and post-secondary education institutions.
ACTA – Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment
A qualification within the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system developed for the Training Industry. ACTA was conceptualised and designed because the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) wanted to enhance the employability and competitiveness of employees and job seekers. A key success factor in the effectiveness of training is the existence of highly skilled and competent trainers to undertake this task. ACTA's goal is to equip these trainers with the necessary competencies to impart effective training to the workforce.
